i think dell and most monitors makers are going to "cheap" monitor, not "better" monitors.

lcd makers like samsung and others, now make larges lcds (like 24") with lower quality panels, so, if you want quality, you should seek another brands more specialized in "quality", like eizo, lacie, etc...
