SQL verify in networker

Hi All,

We have a SQL cluster environment where in 8 virtual node is running. The SQL DB backup runs fine but there is always issue with running SQL verify jobs. The SQL verify needs to be run for all the backup(Full, differential and log).

The database backup runs once full daily, Differential backup at every 4 hours and log backup every hour and verify needs to be run after each backup jobs.

Is there any best practices for SQL verify? Is networker works well with sql verify after each and every backup?

Below binary installed

NMM-3.0.1

SQL-2008R2

Networker- 8.1.1.3

Thanks

And how do you plan to do SQL verify?  Within NW, only verify you can run is verify-restore, but to run it against each backup is kind of madness.

Yes the SQL restore verify is running through command line using scheduler. once the backup job completes the job scheduler (tool) initiate networker SQL restore verify. The main requirement is to have validate backup data through restore verify. Doing this we see most of jobs takes long time/hangs/faile to complete restore verify operations.

We know that running SQL restore verify to proof backup data validity is not a good approach but we are held up with

requirements. Any alternatives to meet this requirement.

No need to verify everytime. Just make sure your backups are successful and pull out reports daily from networker regarding backup status.
