New Stack 6248P
I have an existing 6248p in production. I am adding a second 6248p in a stack. I connected the switches and found that switch 2 was firmware version 3.2 and switch 1 was 2. something. Followed instructions for "downloading" new firmware from server to switch and upgrading version 2 to version 3. Reloaded. Switch 1 is now 3.3.1.10 but Switch 2 is still 3.2.0.7 . Using CLI I copied the firmware image again and when I look at the versions for image 1 and image2 for switch 1 they are both 3.3.1.10 and switch 2 is 3.2.0.7 for image1 and 3.3.1.10 for image2. However if through the web ui I try to switch the active image for switch 2 to image2 I get an error
failed to set "after reset"
If I use the CLI, I can change the active image to image2 but when I reload it fails and then restarts using image1.
How do I upgrade switch2 to version 3.3.1.10. I tried disconnecting switch2 from the stack rebooting and switching active image to image2 with the same results. Also, when reloading switch 2 it caused havoc to my network on switch1 - loss of connectivity, poe connected APs power cycled.
So, I will postpone any further changes to switch2 until after primary working hours.

Thank you, I will have to try removing it and attempt to update the firmware. I was just hoping for a quicker route to update, as it looks like I will need to configure it so that I can at least copy from TFTP to try re-uploading the image. I did check the stack ports and xg1 and xg2 are in stack mode configured and running link status up and link speed 12
Ok, I removed from stack, booted and went to Boot menu, chose option to load new operation system using xmodem. I loaded version 3.3.1.10. The download ended, I chose to reload switch. Now I get unable to open image1 active image failed crc check and on boot I get Flash:mtd:buffer write verification failed interleaved word mode.
Boot Menu is 3.2.0.7 which is what image1 should be.
Help.
You may need to call into Dell support and have them walk you through formating the flash and pushing the firmware to the switch. I seem to recall some secret menu to this but I think you'll need to call support to have them walk you through this process.

I would remove switch 2 from the stack and re-run the firmware update and verify that it is in fact running version 3.3.1.10 before adding to the stack.I would also check the stack-port config, Just to ensure that both switches have xg1 and xg2 in stack mode. I added the command to check the stack port mode below.
