So I was attempting to set up a VLAN on a PowerConnector 2708 (I dont suppose anyone at dell has thought about making a webpage with examples of configuring a VLAN, configuring traunking, etc, so we could all follow along?) and I think I did it wrong because ever since I hit "apply changes" after tying to configure the VLAN, the switch has been badly broken.

Originally it worked, kinda. at least, one of the vlan's stayed up and running. After about 20 minutes, however, all the management pages started rendering poorly (most notably no pulldown menues worked, the button's for toggling tagged and untagged mode showed up blank and were unresponsive, and the "apply changes" button on all pages disappeared.

When I tried to plug an ethernet cable into one of the ports on the second vlan (to see of the vlan's I'd made were functioning even though the OpenManage pages were broken) things got really weird. Specifically, every port on the switch shut down, and the switch stopped passing traffic.

The 2708 was a brick for a day and a half until finally some combination of unplugging it, plugging it back in, turning managed mode off, then turning it back on, etc etc, finally got me a working OpenManage... but the there is STILL no Apply Changes button, and no buttons can be modifed, and no pulldowns work.

My questions are:

[1] How do I get this switch to where it will work again?!

[2] How does one properly set up two seperate VLAN's on a switch (step by step, please) under OpenManage?

[2a] how does one set up trunking for those two VLAN's under OpenManage (again, please, step by step)

[3] What the heck is going on with htis switch? Why is it so badly busted?!
