OS10 to SONiC interoperability

I am staging OS10 S5 series  switches that need to connect to SONiC  E3 series switches

I have tried a number of connection types between switches with no connectivity

for example

integrated DAC cables

10GBs SFP

S5 to  S5 switch connectivity is stable

SONiC to SONiC connectivity is stable

Q has anyone seen an issue with interoperability before ?

    Hi,

the Edge Standard SONiC bundle is only supported on specific platforms, and it’s not designed to run on OS10 hardware. Likewise, OS10 switches can’t run SONiC bundles that aren’t built for them.

As for the connectivity problems  DAC cables can be tricky. Even if they work fine between identical models (S5 ↔ S5 or E3 ↔ E3), they might not work across OS10 ↔ SONiC due to EEPROM mismatches or unsupported transceiver profiles. Dell strongly recommends using Dell-qualified optics or DACs when mixing platforms.

Also, keep in mind that SONiC and OS10 might have different defaults for things like auto-negotiation, FEC, and speed/duplex settings. You might need to manually configure those parameters on both ends to get a stable link.
