does linksys provide linux drivers? The linksys windows drivers work fine for the tm1300

I want linux drivers for the truemobile 1300 as well as the intel graphics in the 500m =)

yeah, i work about half windows and half in linux. it's a huge inconvenience to not be able to use linux on my inspiron. well i can, but i have to use a seperate pc card wifi device and its a huge annoyance.

it's stupid.

Add me to the list... I just bought 2 inspirons in the last two months... twice as p*ssed with no linux drivers (broadcom you are already blacklisted on my purchasing list... Dell is not that far behind for not using their clout to get this done after all the yelling on the customer forum in the last 6 months about this)...

For those of you who are trying unsuccessfully to get the TM1300 to work with Linux, you should check out http://www.linxant.com/ . They have a product called DriverLoader which will allow you to use the Windows Drivers for your wifi card in Linux. I have d/l the trial and it works great on my Latitude D800 with TM1300... $20 will be a small investment for the non-trial version, since getting a native linux driver looks pretty bad at least for the short term.

I have gotten this and installed it on Lindows Laptop Edition, but they have rpm's also.

I think it would be great to have specific driver for linux, also for NVidia GeForce4 4200 Go (1600x1024). Every OS-Upgrade is a special exercice to reinstall the special driver, dito if you like to switch to a beamer. Thanks for all efforts!

I have an i8600. If I dont see a TM1400 linux driver soon, this will be the last dell i buy. I've already made sure that my parents bought something other than dell last month. Being the resident geek within several social circles I have directed no less than 10 people to other manufacturers in the last couple of months. Professionally, I did purchase a dell server recently, but drivers/linux are a non-issue there unlike the desktop/laptops. I have however made sure that the company i work for is no longer buying from dell, and neither are any of the companies that I provide technical consultation to.

I don't know why Dell has been so resistant to make this available considering the public demand for the drivers.

I do know that while it may be a small portion of their business, that my contribution to it has gone elsewhere as a result.

I need a company that supports me in the ways that I use their products.



For what it's worth, I even tried to return my inspiron to get a powerbook (supported unix machine) but dell fscked me.

@If the Linuxant Drivers @ USD 20 is too much to handle take a stroll over to http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net for the open source version. As of earlier this week it now supports both WEP and WPA (new!) and is on par with the commercial offering at a better price: FREE :)
