computer won't turn on while the ethernet cable is in

computer won't turn on while the ethernet cable is in. When I unplug the ethernet cable the computer does turn on.
while the ethernet cable is in the power button just blinks orange. any suggestions, besides unplugging the ethernet cable every time???

    yes the cable works fine after i turn on the computer.

    Have you tried a different cable?  Does the ethernet connection work if you plug it in after you sucussfully boot?  Is your BIOS set to boot from a network source?
