Latitude D600 has both wireless and Gigabit but no network shows up so I have gone into Device Manager and "removed"
Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller
Now I intend to re-boot and hope the network establishes itself again following device detection. This notebook PC is the one used by my boss for testing.

The following steps of the repair operation failed:
Renewing the IP address.
Purging the DNS Resolver cache.

Ping times out when sending to our router using either the external TCP/IP or the internal (NAT).

I would settle for either -- Ethernet or Wireless -- but neither is connecting.
Our wireless access points are Cisco Aironet 1100
In Intel(R) PROSet for Wireless

(*) Connect to 802.11b networks only

(*) CTS to self enabled (I have tried both)
Profile management
Display available networks when not associated
Notify when disabling profile managemen features
Notify when Windows XP Zero Config is enabled
Enable profile management features

Enable Mixed-Cell (Requires Cisco CCX option) [ I have tried both )
I received a clue after doing a Search for "iexplore.exe" in the error dialog
"The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll"
I googled to see what that dll is about.
The "live" copy is 393 KB 4/19/2004 12:31PM
but there is another copy
463 KB 8/4/2004 3:56 AM
and yet another
277 KB 12/17/2002 2:04 PM
Now I have hard-coded a NAT (internal) TCP/IP address and this enables me to use the NIC to connect to our Domain and copy files.

The D600 Latitude can connect to the LAN but not to the Internet (using NIC).
Until I get the internet connection to work through the Ethernet cable, I am not going to try wireless.
Please post the "ipconfig /all" output for both adapters. There was evidence in the one you posted for the wireless adapter that not all the settings were obtained by DHCP. Specifically, for the locally configured network (169.254) there should not be a gateway, yet there was one set. The fact that you can reach other machines on the LAN but nothing beyond it suggests that the manual settings for the Ethernet adapter may not include the correct gateway.
