I have an E1405 that came with XP but I installed Vista Ultimate on it. Vista seems to work just fine.
I keep the machine powered on all the time (virus scans, updates, etc. while I sleep) and sometimes, when I sit down to work, I see that the network icon has a X through it.
I run through the usual steps of tryng to connect to a network and Vista says there are no networks!!
I have a Broadcom 802.11g wireless netwrok adapter (BCM43XV) and cannot find any drivers at Dell or at Broadcom!!
Download the driver from support.dell.com website, search for this filename: R174292.EXE. Run and install the this driver and the broadcom 802.11g will show up as Dell Wireless 1390 or 1395.
There's only 2 brand of wireless adapter installed on all dell laptops. They're Intel and Broadcom but dell rebranded the broadcom adapter as Dell wireless adapter that contains broadcom chipset. I assure you that link i provided will be the correct driver for your wireless adapter base on the specs that you provided.
