Help Please!
I'm going to try not to make this sound as complicated as it is...
I'm new here and in dire need of help. I had a PC which was connecting to the internet with a NetGear wireless cable modem. Now, I have a laptop. It was connected to the internet (via DellConnect) using that same NetGear modem, which is still connected to my PC's tower. Basically, the wireless modem plugged to the PC's tower is sending signals to my laptop.
However, my sister wants this PC. I've given her the monitor, but I haven't given her the tower because, as mentioned earlier, it's still hooked to the cable modem and I'm pretty sure that it was unhooked, I wouldn't get any more internet connection on my laptop.
To solve this problem, my mom bought a wireless broadband router.
I have no idea where to even start from here.
Is a "wireless modem" (as the one still hooked to the tower) the same thing as a "wireless router" (as the one mom purchased? Should she have gotten a router that plugs into the wall instead of a wireless one? How can I give her the tower and the modem connected to it without losing my own connection? And even more, will I need my old PC and its wireless cable modem to connect my wireless router?
Thanks for any help you may offer.
