how-to set up wireless internet connection
I am new to broadband and wireless networking. I currently have a broadband connection on my desktop and would like to get a wireless connection for my new inspiron 6000. i got the wireless card and i know i need a router. is that all? someone said i need a wireless card for my desktop, but that doesnt seem right, thats only if you want the desktop to be wireless right? i only need the one that came with my computer and the router correct? can someone clarify for me please?

Assuming the current connection between your desktop and the broadband modem is Ethernet, all you will need to add is a wireless broadband router. The modem will connect to the "Internet" (sometimes called "WAN") side of the router via Ethernet, and the desktop will connect to one of the router's LAN connectors via Ethernet. And of course, the new 6000 will connect to the router using its wireless capabilities.
The only possible complications are the lack of an Ethernet connection on the broadband modem, and the possibility that the broadband modem is in fact a router and DHCP server for the LAN, currently consisting of only one device. The first (USB interface only on the modem) could be serious, as there are very few broadband routers that support USB. The second is usually easily worked around by reconfiguration either of the broadband modem or the router. If you'll post the manufacturer and model number of the broadband modem, both of those possibilities could be checked.
