Internet explorer not responding

I am going crazy!! I have a new Dell Dimension 8400 and it has worked great for about 6 months.  Now all at once I cannot get explorer to work.  It will not let me go in to see any of my accounts or download anything. I get the hour glass with the emblem flying, but it just sets there.l  I have Stop Sign and Norton, have run complete scans and purchased PConpoint that was supposed to fix it, but did not.  I am not an advanced computer expert, just know the basics, but I hope there is someone out there that can help me.

Thanks,
Shirl

What kind of internet connection do you have (cable/dsl/dialup)?  Are you getting an IP address?  I'm not very impressed with your security software.  Stop Sign used to infect computers with more spyware than it would prevent - I don't know if it has cleaned up it's act.  PConpoint uses deceptive adverstising via popups and spyware to convince users to purchase their product - again, not very reassuring.  You might want to go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.

This is interesting, because today my internet expolrer stopped working. I'm connected to a wireless router to my broadband.

In the end I disabled my Norton firewall on my PC and it started to connect OK.

Does anyone have an Idea what might of happened?

Hi, try this it worked for me.

Turn off your firewall and see if you can connect.

If you can Download Search and Distroy software.  Google will find it.  Its free

Run the update to download the latest info and then run it.

Click on repair and see if that works.

    Then turn on your firewall
