Sorry to tell you i can't help as i am having the same problem with a DellTrueMobile 2300 router. I have posted also in this forum all my attempts to get it to work and no go. This is also after many hours on the phone with Dell Support. Some how or some way the port is not open, i am sure there is an answer as i have video conferenced with others with routers.
Thanks. It is not encouraging, but we need to keep trying. Hopefully we will get it. I have some things to try. I will let you know if I have some luck.
I would try upgrading your firmware on the Router! That usually fixs most problems. I would try upgrading the MSN Messenger to the newest version. Another problem could be with the the Port that MSN Messenger is trying to use for the Sound & Video. DO you have any firewall Software installed?
Thanks for the reply.I will update the firmware. I am also going to try to use port#5000 as i read that is the UPnP port, and that port is open after i ran a check, as opposed to 6901 that is closed even though it is configured in port forwarding.I do shut the firewall off when i try to use video conferencing. Thanks for the reply
I had a similar problem with my Belkin router however after much swearing and messing around I found out how to fix it. If your router supports Universal Plug and Play (uPNP) enable this on the firewall/router and Messenger will 'talk' directly to it and request the correct ports to open when it needs it.
