This is now the second time that I've had this issue. The first time I was installing and re-installing new drivers for about 2 weeks before the system just miraculously "fixed itself", that was about a month ago. Now, I'm in the same boat and frankly I hold Dell responsible for pairing itself with such a poor network adapter and it seems no one from Dell is willing to confront Intel or the issue itself.
The issue: Cannot connect to wifi. Others on my network can connect fine. No one else uses the N2230. I am on Windows 8.1 x64-bit. I have downloaded and installed the newest drivers and none of them work. I can connect to the internet via ethernet cable, but thats it. I can see the network, but when i try and connect it says "cannot connect to this network". There is no issue with the SSID because it was working one day and then it started fluttering; connecting and disconnecting, and then it just dropped it altogether. I have run diagnostics, which state the network adapter works fine. Except it doesnt. I have started it in Safe Mode w/ Networking, no dice, I have checked and double checked the fact that the wifi button is on so please refrain from asking "did you do the Fn+F2?" Yes, I have. I have disabled and re-enabled wifi more times than i care to count. I have "forgotten" my network and re-established that link, nothing, NOTHING works.
So Dell, whatcha got? I'd hate to be sending this computer back to you because there will not be a happy customer here. Ive been ordering from Dell for nearly 10 years and I would like to think that you all would go the extra mile to help a customer rather than forcing me to buy from your competitors from now on.
I would suggest you to update the BIOS and then uninstall and reinstall the Wireless card driver on the system. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS and then download the BIOS from BIOS section and then wireless card driver from Network section onto the Desktop screen.
Switch ON the system and switch OFF the system 3 to 4 times when the Dell logo appears. This will make the system to go into ‘Windows 8.1 Advanced Startup Options’ screen. Please select Troubleshoot option and choose the REFRESH option so that it refreshes the windows operating system.
