I have an Optiplex GXa, running XP that intermittently drops it's LAN connection. The OS is up-to-date with patches, and the BIOS is at the most current revision. There does not appear to be any NIC drivers posted for this system & XP.
This system is connected to a firewall/router and is configured with a static IP address. There are other systems also connected to this router and they are fine. When this system drops it's connection, rebooting alone doesn't do it. I have to shut the system down entirely, as well as the router. Bring them both back up, and everything is fine- temporarily.
Anyone have any suggestions or experienced anything like this? Would the wake-on lan setting in the BIOS apply in this case? I have run out of ideas....
