Ram

Good day,

Can I run more than 16gb of ram on a dell optiplex 3020. I currently have a 16gb 8500 ddr3l ram which I haven't slotted in and 2×4gb drr3 sdram which are currently running the system on a i5-4570 cpu @3.20ghz. More than anything I just need to know if I can use the ddr3l ram and get a matching one, should I not be able to use it with one of the 4gb

Regards

    Hi J,

I appreciate your response on the other post, gave me assuring. But what I asked on this post was not answered on my other post. Nonetheless,  what I need to know now is, can I use 1 of the 4gb rams that I have together with the16gb equalling 20gb ram. Remember it's for a dell optiplex 3020. Dell said max that I can run is 16gb, but crucial says otherwise.

It is 16Gb max per DIMM slot I think.  3020 has two DIMM slots only.  I suggest you first test 16 Gb in DIMM 1 leaving DIMM 2 empty,  If system post successfully without beep then you can add a second 4gb in DIMM 2.
