Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server Memory configuration problem.

Hello Everyone;

I have Dell PowerEdge C6100 Server (4 nodes)  and I'm having trouble configuring the Memory on them.

Server Specs: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/poweredge-c6100-spec-sheet-en.pdf

Server Manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/cp_pe_c6100/en/HOM/PDF/6100HM.pdf

So I'm trying to add  2 X 16 DDR3 RAM in to each node, however it only read one stick at a time!, in other words If I add both sticks it should read 32GB but in my case it only reads 16GB.

I tested all RAM sticks that I bought and they all work fine.  I could not understand the manual "Memory Module configuration"  table on how the Memeory should be set on these nodes,

I add 1 Stick to slot 1 and 12 but that did not work! I also tried number of configurations but I was unsuccessful.

Any ideas? . Thank you kindly.

    Thanks Daniel;

    I actually found out from this table, Memory DIMMs should be configured as 1, 4 , 6 and 12  So technically 2 sticks won't do it,

    I haven't had the chance  to test it but theoretically speaking:

    1 DIMM => Slot  8

    4 DIMMs-> CPU 0 Slot 8, 10 | CPU 1 Slot 5,3

    6 DIMMs -> CPU0 8,10,12 | CPU 1 Slot 5,3,1

    12 DIMMs -> All Slots on both sides.

    Will update you with the status.

    Thank you

    Adam

    Hello Akamali

    As you see in Table 3-2, you need to populate starting at Channel A, and DIMM0. Slot 1 is Channel C DIMM0, and Slot 12 is Channel C DIMM0. The Channel A DIMM0 slots for the two processors are 5 and 8. I would suggest putting the DIMMs in those slots.

    Let me know if that does not fix the problem.

    Thanks
