Replaced 36GB disks with 72's, one by one so the array was rebuilt as I manually failed and replaced each drive. Would like to extend/expand the Virtual Disk Array to take advantage of the additional space. Is this possible or do I have to create a new array?
I've covered this issue in other threads, so I'll summarize:
2 options:
1) Make a second volume on the existing array. This makes it more likely having to rebuild the server as the system ages, when you have two partitions offline, 1 in each array, and they reside on different drives, you are stuck with having to destroy one array in order to replace 1 drive to fix the other array. If you had unused slots, you could add a drive to make the recovery, but have to do 4 rebuilds to complete the process.
2) delete the array and make a new array the full size (less a few M/B if you want to allow a slightly smaller drive be able to be used as a replacement.) reinstall and restore from backup.
