Server 2008 STF, EVENT 6008
[View:/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/1466/lsi_5F00_0923.log:550:0]i have t300 that just rebooted with a event 6008. i cannot find any other msg in the windows event log to indicate an error. i logged into openmanage and it says:
Controller event log: Shutdown command received from host: Controller 0 (PERC 6/i Adapter)
an event came up for the battery saying the battery was under threshold, said charging and now everything is green.
then shows this as informational, not an error
Controller event log: Unexpected sense: Encl PD 20 Path 50022090aa814d00, CDB: 12 00 00 00 04 00, Sense: 6/29/00: Controller 0 (PERC 6/i Adapter). the battery re-learned and shows ok and
whats my course of action ?

The Event 6008 is just an unexpected shutdown. It can be caused by several things. The 0XA00000 error you are seeing is identifying an issue with Windows itself. If you check the Advanced Settings for the server, is it configured to Automatically Reboot on error, if so uncheck that. That is so we can see if there are additional stop codes.

the system could not use it and the drivers would not load. i downloaded drivers for it and the install could not find the device. i've now unplugged the device. could this have been the problem ?

Updating the driver shouldn't have any effect on the existing Virtual Disks.

The alerts you are seeing are two sense keys that occur under normal conditions - 6/29 and 5/24. 6/29 are indicating initializations and 5/24 are indicating inquiries. Both messages being sent as a general inquiry. It's the controller making sure the drives and backplane are still present and functional. What I would recommend is to verify the controller, and Storport driver, are up to date and current.
