Dell Printer 944 error message 1102

I received a error message 1102 and when I opened the ink cartridges the two week old color cartridge was leaking, so I puuled it out and inserted it back into the printer. It worked a couple of times and now it shows full, but the colors are not coming out. I don't want ot buy a new ink cartridge if the printer is damaged. What should I do? Please help!!

    bigcat75,

Are you using Dell Series 5 ink cartridges or refilled cartridges?

There might be some extra ink in where the cartridge sits that might need removed.

I found another post with error 1102 and the 944 printer.

It keeps giving me an error (cartridge errror 1102). It says the cartridge is unsupported. I took off all the tape and installed it correctly the first time. I was able to print 2 photos just fine then all of a sudden it gave me that error message. What do i do?

Your error message is coming from the Dell Series 5 ink Cartridge. To reset the error message, unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer. Wait 60 seconds and then plug everything back in. This usually resets any error messages on the printer. Make sure the Dell Series 5 ink cartridges are intalled correctly by removing them and re-seating them .

Black in left or black side, color in right side or color side

    if using a photo cartridge...

Photo cartridge in the black side(left) and color in the color side(right)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.

    Thanks Rick.

Yes I bought the color ink cartridge back in July and put it into my printer about a month ago. at first it was showing that I had no color ink.The ink cartridge was leaking some, so I cleaned everything up and re-installed the cartridge. Got the error again, then I did what you said  about unplugging it and plugging it back in. I was able to print the cleaning page a few times with poor quality and now I get the 1102 and it won't print any color. I'm not sure if I should buy a new ink cartridge or a new printer. The printer is only 4 years old and does make some weird noise when I'm scanning. If I buy a new cartridge and it doesn't work then I'm out $30.00.

I look forward to your suggestions. Thanks and have a great day.

    Frank,

The decision is all yours. Inkjet Printers sell for around $100. Ink is where the manufacturers are making the money. Please visit the Dell Printer Learning Center,  to give you an idea of what you want to look for in a printer. I love having a wireless printer.

Things to look for. Most manufacturers are putting sensors in their ink cartridges, so look for a printer, then look at the price of ink. I use high capacity cartridges and they last longer. I have been using my Dell Series Ink Cartridges since September and they're still 3/4 full, even with homework and Christmas Cards. I have a Dell V715w Wireless Printer.

Make sure the printer has all the features you need for what you want to try. I have found that printing photos at a business is much cheaper that trying to print them yourself.
