Did you install SP2 for MS Office 2K?  If not that may be a prerequisite for these additonal updates?

I had Office 2K (Pro) on my PC and just recently upgraded to Office 2003.  I did a clean install on my sytem about a year and a half ago and had to reinstall Office 2K, and all the updates and the updates since without a problem.  But, the first thing I did after reinstalling was to install Office 2000 SP2.  Most updates also require the installation CD for Office 2000 and the updates will fail or not install if you do not have the CD.

In addition, have you tried installing all updates online?  Office Update will scan and detect what updates your installation requires.

I forgot to add that I do have the original Office CDs that came with the computer.  The installer asks for them despite  the fact that I asked to use the longer files,  The installation still fails, though.

I haven't given enough information.  I also cannot install .NET framework 2.0 I don't know how to check if I have installed that service pack, but I have previously been able to use the Microsoft site to update Office 2K.  When I use their site to check which updates I need, those that I listed above are the only items it tells me I need.  How do I check to see if I have that service pack?

.NET Framework 2.0 is not a part of or required by Microsoft Office and is a separate download:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en

Office Update would list any Service Packs your installation required if you haven't installed them already.  You can find out which service pack you have already installed by opening any Office Application (e.g., Microsoft Excel), click Help on the menu and select About Microsoft Excel; it would say (for example) Microsoft Excel 2000 SP2 on the next screen.
