I just purchased a Dell 1510X projector. I connected my Dell XPS desktop computer (Windows XP SP3) to the VGA-A In port, and my monitor to VGA-A Out.
The projector seems to work fine, but my monitor now only displays an image when the projector is on. When I turn off the projector, the monitor goes blank. The monitor appears to be receiving a signal, though, because it does not report "No Signal" and the power light is green (the light turns amber when there is no signal).
Is there a way to make the monitor display the image when the projector is off?
Does this also apply to Dell, Model No: IR2804? We have always put our Dell projectors as a passthrough in my school. We just got this new one and now it shuts the monitor off after the projector has been off for around 5-20 minutes. The computer does not go to sleep mode. I have checked that. If it can't be used as a passthrough how can I hook up the monitor, tower and projector?

It sounds like your using the 1510x as a passthrough between the PC and the monitor. If so, then the 1510x must be powered on for the monitor to work.
