Replication manager 5.2 - problems after fresh install

Hi.
i just installed Replication manager 5.2 (server & console) on a windows 2003 standard server (32bit). It has java 5.0 update 10 installed and MS .NET 2.0. Note this is a virtual machine on a ESX 3.5 host.

The installation goes smoothly, but when i attempt to logon to the RM console (from that local server) with the local admin account, the RM logon screen just hangs or gives an error " Internal Error. Could not encrypt login password" which goes away after about 1 second !!

Below is the extract from the RM server details log. Any help woulud be appreciated. It looks like after authenitication RM hangs?

I have a similar issue with the RM login GUI. After working fine for a month, when I login with the correct username and password, the GUI just disappears.

Event viewer started to display the following errors:

    source SideBySide Event ID 59:
Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your

    system
    Event ID 32:
ependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
    And Event ID 59:
Generate Activation Context failed for C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.MFC_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_3BF8FA05\MFC80.DLL.

Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

Here's what I am getting in the ermlog.

Also ran the 5.2sp1 repair and re-installed the Microsoft C++ 2005 but still can't get in.
