Hi!  First here are the licensing components for Replication Manager:

• RM-SERVER (in general one RM-SERVER supports up to 30 RM-AGENTs - could be less depending on configuration)
  
• RM-AGENT (one RM-AGENT license is needed per logical host – physical / virtual server)
  
• RM-PROXY-VM (needed for VMware datastore VMFS or NFS replication via the proxy host)
  

I read product guide & administration guide, and confuse me.  What software is required by VMWare replication on RM 5.3.1? I would like to perform VMWare replication on CLARiiON

1. RM Server

     A. RM Server

     B. RM Agent

     C. RM Console

     D. Do I need solution enabler for CLARiiON support?

     E. Do I need NaviSphere Agent & CLI for CLARiiON support?

Licensing you would need:

• RM Server (Qty 1)
  
• RM Agent  - you need one RM-AGENT license per logical host – physical / virtual server
  
• The Replication Manager Console is a GUI component which is installed on any Windows or Solaris workstation or laptop with a TCP/IP connection to the Replication Manager Server.  It is not priced separately, it’s included in the RM Server software bundle.
  

Software you need:

•    You need Solutions Enabler and Navipshere CLI and Navisphere ADMSnap modules , on the RM Server host (refer to the EMC Support Matrix for EMC Replication Manager guide for specific versions needed for RM 5.3.1.)
  

•   Replication Manager support for replication and mount on VMware with Raw Device Mapping (RDM) or Microsoft iSCSI initiator discovered LUN running Windows in a CLARiiON environment will require Microsoft iSCSI Initiator and  EMC PowerPath (Page 312 of the RM Admin Guide ver 5.3.1)
  

2. Proxy Host for VMFS replication  

     A. Windows Server

     B. RM Agent

     C. Do I need to install additional software on this host? or some software need to download for VMWare site?

     D. solution enabler?

     E. Naviphere Agent & CLI

Licensing you would need:

When you are doing VMFS replication using a proxy host, it requires an Replication Manager Proxy license.  The proxy is the client license so you don’t need a client/agent license So you would need:

• RM Server (Qty1)
  
• RM Proxy VM -  the RM Proxy quantity will depend on number of virtual centers being managed.  It is one per virtual center.
  
• The RM Agent would be needed if you are planning to replicate Virtual Disks or RDMs
  
• Proxy Agent will be needed only for VMFS type replication
  

Software you need:

• You need Solutions Enabler and Navipshere CLI and Navisphere ADMSnap modules on the Proxy Host (refer to the EMC Support Matrix for EMC Replication Manager guide for specific versions needed for RM 5.3.1.)
  
• If you configure VMWare with clariion LUN  visible to guest OS using windows iSCSI initiator, then EMC PowerPath may be required.
