400SC boot from SATA problems
I've got a Dell 400SC with A08 bios. I installed a Serial ATA drive in the system and was attempting to use that as the primary boot drive with an IDE drive also installed on the system for additional file storage. I installed Fedora Core 3 on the SATA drive and when the system boots, it freezes when trying to boot. It seems the system defaults to booting from the SATA drive if one is installed. Even with the MBR for FC3 installed on the SATA drive it refuses to boot. So I installed the MBR onto the IDE drive with directing the boot loader to actually boot from the SATA drive. This works if I load the boot menu (F12) and then pick Primary IDE drive for each boot. However, I can't automate this process. So I'm looking for the answer to one of two questions:
1) How can I get the machine to boot from the SATA drive directly?
2) How can I force the IDE drive to boot even if an SATA drive is installed?
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
