Can someone tell me what to do if a picture CD will not eject from the E drive. I don't know how long it has been in there but it will not come out. I've tried through my computer right clicked and hit eject and I have pushed the button on the front of the computer itself. I am not the greatest with computers but I thought I could atleast manage this one!!!!
There is a small hole somewhere on the front panel of the drive. Push a paper clip into the hole to release the drawer. You may have two disks in the drive, a common cause of stuck drawers. Work carefully and you should be able to get in.
Kirk is currenlty off-line, so I will drop a note until his return. Turn the system off and give the paperclip one more try, the emergency eject button can be a little deeper than you think. You should be able to feel the button release. If the tray does not "pop" out; While holding the papaerclip firmly against the button, see if you can ease the tray open with your free hand. I have had to do this to a couple of PC`s at work like this, both times it was just as Kirk stated, they had mistakenly inserted two CD`s.
Best Regards!
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the difference. CD/RW Link
Yes Jeff's answer is the way to go, you should always manually open the cd tray with a paper clip in that small hole and gently try to open the door WITH THE COMPUTER OFF. Sounds like maybe the disc is not seated in the slot and has jammed the tray closed. It may also be a warped disc or a label has gotten stuck or lodged in it. Just be as gentle as you can be with this cdrom and you should be able to get it open and remove the disc.
