UNSOLVED
CD/DVD problem
Both drives are not been working. The hardware device manager shows a yellow exclamation point and says both have corrupted or damaged registry files. I opened up the computer to makes sure all connections were good. I found one plug that was completely loose -- it is labeled "P7". However I can't find the receptor where that particular plug fits. Is there a diagram that shows me where to insert? I have a 2 year old Dimension 2400.

It's OK to have connectors that are not plugged into anything. As long as your hard drive and CD/DVD drive(s) are plugged in, that's all that matters.
Your registry issue can be corrected by deleting the upper and lower filters as described here:
