dvd/mp3 codecs

i have recently had to reinstall windows xp and now i don't have the dvd playing or mp3 ripping codecs on windows media player? i've looked on all the cds that i got with my computer, but these files dont' seem to be on them. what should i do?

    If you are referring to the Windows Media Player, just do an update (download) the latest version and that should get whatever you lost back.  There is an update option in Windows Media Player and that should detect what is missing and allow you to update it (make sure you are on line when you run the update).

    Click on Help then Player Updates.  If that doesn't get anything, go to the Microsoft site and download the latest version
