Hard Drive Replacement EIDE or ATA

Thanks to all who advised me that based on the Warning error from a 90 90 diagnostics test my HD is failing. My next question is, I found a great buy for a WD 160 HD at best buy for 39.00(129.00 before rebate) after a mail in rebate. My question is it doesn't show that it is for the EIDE,but the ATA i belive. Is this compatiable as a replacement HD, or do I need a EIDE type HD? Any help would be appreciated.

    what the heck are all of those things? As you can tell this is all new to me.I have seen WD HD EIDE for about 80.00 not on sale and only 60 GD. I really haven't used up much of my old 60 GB HD only about 20 GB, woulkd the 160 GD HD EIDE be overkill?

    I just checked the best Buy add it is for a WD Caviar SE Internal Serial ATA Model 1600JDRTL

    You need an EIDE/ATA/PATA drive. That's probably what's on sale (as the system vendors have switched over to SATA, the drive makers seem to be taking a cue from the Big Two and a Half automakers and having a fire sale).

    ATA=PATA=EIDE.

    What model system do you have?

    I have a Demision 8200 which came with a WD The test gave ma a code 4

    That won't work without a controller card. You need a -JB drive, not -JD (D is SATA; B is EIDE).

    Thanks, I will go ahead and buy a smaller GB hard drive from WD around 80 GB. Thanks again you guys are a lifeline in a sea of technical chaos.
