I am seeking to reformat my inspiron which is running WindowsME and to load XP. Is this a good idea? If so, could someone give me a rundown on how to do it?
What laptop do you have? I would say its always worth installing XP if your laptop is good enough, may just need more ram to run at a good speed if you have less than 256mb. You can get a guide on how to install if you look at product support above, just use the reinstall guide, I would get all the drivers you need first before you format, then you just need to change the boot order in bios to CD first, put the XP CD in and boot from the CD, its easy enough as long as you have the drivers.
How do you change to boot order to "CD first?" I have done this before but it has been a few years. Thanks for the help. I am not very computer savvy if you can't tell.
