Before reinstalling XP, run Dell diagnostic's extended test on the hard drive.

The guide for this should be in the owner's manual.

I cant figure out how to post a new msg, but my issue is sort of the same

    I am getting the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

    following technical info.

can you tell me what is wrong? I cant get the rescue disk to do anything, get msg that primary drive1 not found &secondary drive 1 cant be found

when I hit F1 I get page black and white choices SAFE MODE, etc then before I even click I get the blue screen again

    get the following TECHNICAL INFORMATION

    xxxSTOP: OXOOOOOOED(OX8234BCO8, OXCOOOOOO6,OXOOOOOOOO,OXOOOOOOO)

Can you tell me if this means my hardrive is cooked? I have a Dell desktop 3000, very old, actually just bought new Dell laptop (using) and new Dell 530 pc, but I would like the 3000 to work if possible.

    thanks in advance

    Nancy
