Unity Unisphere & flash drives wear
dear all
I'm responding to an RFP which requires:
1. to describe how one can monitor in the GUI the rate of wear of flash drives and their estimated remaining life.
2. How does one avoid several flash drives failing in a very short period of time, due to the even wear out of those flash drives. What is the standard practice?
Would you please direct me to a relevant document or assist?

Unity will report flash wear via health alerts when estimated end of life reaches 180, 90 and 30 days
at 30 days a callhome is generated and a proactive copy to a hot spare is started
Flash wear level can also be monitored via CloudIQ
If you are proposing an all-flash system I would suggest to look at the white paper for the new dynamic pools.
There the time for rebuild is drastically reduced since we rebuild extends in parallel to several disks instead of a single spare
