Storage Provider for VMAX

I'm setting up the trial vApp and have a root login to the Vipr console. I've added a Storage provider but the connection fails. When setting up the Storage Provider, I tried both the host name and the IP of the solutions enabler host but no luck getting the storage system added.

So a couple of basic questions.

1. Is the default installation of solutions enabler on a linux host with gate keepers assigned and VMAX discovered with symcfg enough to serve as a storage provider host? If not, how do I make the solutions enabler host into a storage provider.

2. In the "Add Storage Provider" form in the vipr controller there is a required user name and password. Is this a linux OS account with priviliges sufficient to run SE commands? If so, is it possible to have vipr use this account in conjunction with sudo?

    1. default is not enough
      1. you have to download SMI-S + Solutions Enabler bundle, version 7.6.2 for ViPR 2.0. , and install it
      2. you need to map gatekeepers if VMAX
      3. you have to use TestSmisProvider executable (/opt/emc/ECIM/ECOM/bin I believe, start it, accept all defaults) and use "addsys" functionality to add VMAX/VNX systems to it. You can use "dv" to list systems.
    2. In Add Storage Provider panel - you add IP for the host where SMIS is deployed and started up, and default user/pwd for SMI-S (unless it was changed post-installation).
    3. All arrays your SMI-S sees should be discovered in ViPR

    4. consult documents at ViPR 2.0 Product Documentation Index
