A while back, Spybot Search and Destroy detected Wild Tangent on my computer and took care of it. I did another scan with it today and found 11 instances of it again, Spybot S&D once again cleaned it, can not find any instances of it by doing searches for it. What exactly is Wild Tangent, why does it keep coming back, and last but not least, is there a better way to eliminate it? I use the mentioned Spybot S&D, Lavasoft Adaware, and MacAfee Antivirus. Also do scans with TrendMicro. Thanks. Also do not see any evidence of Wild Tangent in my Hijack This log.
"Here are some typical programs that may install Wild Tangent Software to your computer:
Wild Tangent games: When you play a game at the Wild Tangent Software gaming site, http://www.wildtangent.com, the site requires you to download the game program to play the game. The game may be downloaded to your computer regardless of whether you play the game on the Web site or directly on your computer.
Winamp: Wild Tangent software is installed as part of the customized parts (plugins) of Winamp.
Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other programs: Some ISPs and other programs may install portions of the Wild Tangent software. ISPs include companies such as Verizon or BellSouth that provide your computer access to the Internet."
Yeah, I think their is a connection between games my daughter plays online and Wild Tangent. I have not had time to do research on it, seems their is no way to immunize against it. Thanks for the responses.
