VMAXe was the name of the product till EMC World 2012.

It was changed when they completed the product-family

    and named it:

    VMAX 10K, 20K and 40K

    AFAIK there is none.

VMAX 10k is only the "newer" name for the system.

The VMAXe was renamed VMAX 10K as stated. However, there was a hardware refresh to the VMAX10K in late 2012 as well. The newer 10K has upgraded processors, more cores, updated matrix interconnect, increased cache.  The original VMAXe, now called 10K (yes it's confusing), have serial numbers that end in 959. The newer 10K's with updated hardware end in 987.  Hope that helps.
