You can have up to 8 back end bus' (if you have the SAS expander slic). You can have either 15 slot or 25 slot DAE's and you are well under the 1000 drive limit of the array.

How you layout the drives really comes down to your workload requirements, but the vault is always going to be in the first 4 drives of the DPE.

How you configure the drives on the VNX should be in the best way to handle the expected workload the storage environment will put on the array. I'd engage the Professional Services team for better design consultation.
