When booting windows xp it gives a stop error STOP:0X000000ED(0X8278CA68,0XC0000015,0X00000000,0X00000000). How do I get the problem resolved.

Read this.  Scroll down and try Method 2.

0x000000ED is an unmountable boot volume. try to run diagnostics first. this could mean a bad hard drive.

if you have a laptop: turn it off, hold down the FN key then press the power button. you should see a pre-boot system screen.

if this is a desktop: turn the system on and press F12 as soon as you see the dell logo. scroll down and highlight boot to utility partition then press enter. once you're on the main menu screen, click on express test.
