clean up, reinstall, restore

i really just want to restore my computer back to it's orginal settings.  clean it iup.  remove everything that i've added to this comoputer.  i want it to work like i just bought it brand new straight out of the box.  but i'm clueless right now.  when i had hewlett packard i had the cd to do that.  but when i got my dell, i don't think i cd came with it.  i can't even do a system restore.  everytime i try to do a system restore it tells me that it can't be done.  can anyone help me?  PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    is this something that i'll have to take to a computer repair shop?

    If your system was shipped after 7/15/2004, follow Dell's instructions here to restore your PC to factory shipped condition.

    Ask Dell to give you the reinstallation cds of your system. There is a Contact Us link at the bottom of this page.

    thanks a million.  i'll give all that a try.  my computer has been acting up so i kinda just wanna start from scratch if that's at all possible.  so again.  thanks alot for your help.
