The latest problem I'm having is with system resources. I had signed off the internet, but the computer was still on. Some hours later, when I wanted to sign on again, system resources had dropped to a dangerous 28%. I have taken all the steps to correct the resources problem; i.e., selective startup, etc. It seems that the programs that load at boot are somehow draining the resources. I'm very frustrated. When I'm on line, the resources dropped to about 61%, but held there for several hours. It doesn't make sense.
If you don't routinely check for spyware that may be the cause. Download either Ad-aware from
here and/or Spybot from
here. Check online for updates to their databases then run either and delete all the spyware they identify.
I was caught in the same problem. I just simply notified Dell that I wanted to start completely over and they helped me through the process of clearing out all of these computer problems and reformating my C: drive. If you want to go through the trouble of backing up all of your computer's information, not to mention about 4 to 8 hours of your time, you can reformat your computer by reinstalling the operating program. For me, it ended "weekends" of frustration. Good Luck!
