Dissapearing Windows programs

Lately I have noticed XP programs dissapearing. My calculator dissapeared, and now I have found that all the installed games have dissapeared too. (like hearts, minesweeper, etc.) They are just gone, and when I try to search I only find the help files. Has this happened to anyone else? And does anyone know what I can do about this??

    First thing to try is a System Restore to an earlier date when all was well.  Second, do you have all Windows updates, up and running anti-virus, spyware, etc. with all updates?  Do scans show any malware?

    Okay- I did do a system restore to the point where all of my applications were back--
    I do have Spyware and and up-to-date virus scan...niether found anything that was labeled malware-- Spyware only found cookies, and virus scan didn't find anything--

    When my Windows Update re-updated (from the system restore) it gave me a message that: Windows Malicious Software Remover Tool was not installed. I don't know if that means anything- but that is what it told me...

    Any other ideas on what could be causeing this??
