its been 6 months and i still didnt manage to install sp1, microsoft couldnt came up with a solution to my problem and so i decided to give up on vista and roll back to xp. question is how?
my laptop is dell inspiron 6400 that originally came with xp installed on (but no installation cd).
i used vista ultimate upgrade cd in order to insall vista.
i tried using the ctrl+F11 thingy, but it wont response, i guess vista deleted the partition, becuase when using the disk manager i saw this partition is empty.
ok so anybody can help me out?
i got an original upgrade vista ultimate cd, and another xp pro upgrade cd back home, but no original clean-install cd.
how do i get my laptop back to how it was in day one when i first opened it?
Why don't you try Dell Chat: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/en/hardware_chat and see if they can send you a reinstallation disk. I know they sent me a reinstallation disk for my daughters laptop in case I ever had reformat/reintall which I already had to do.

If you upgrade the XP to Vista, and you want the XP back, suppose can uninstall the Vista in the control panel--P
