eeeeeeeeeeeee ?????

i 've had  an inspirion 600m with windows xp prof. for 3 months. I've encountered a problem , don't know if it's hardware, windows, or something malisious.  When I open email in outlook 2003 I hear a noise similar to a woodpecker on speed , that only lasts a few seconds. when i open  internet explorer to google , click in the search space & see    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i've run norton virus scan & found nothing , I cleaned the "e "key ( it was'nt stuck).
Does anyone know what this is? I've spent 2 days researching & found nothing.
Thanks

Thanks , I'll try your suggestions , would spyware cause that annoying noise also?

I'll also add that yesterday when this started , the "e" key stopped working all together. Now the key works fine.  &  I thought the problem was fixed . but apparently not. It does'nt happen all the time either & I'm not even touching that key .

it sounds like it is spy ware to me
try downloading spybot, just search for it on google
then download AVG antivirus, i am suggesting downloading AVG because i had norton once and now that i have AVG i would definatly say that it is a all around better program for getting rid of viruses. it does not slow down you computer when you start your computer up an it detects way more things when you scan. when i got AVG it found 17 inactive viruses including a trojan, when norton would not find anyhting. the only downside is that it takes a little longer to scan your computer. to download AVG just search for it on google and download the free adition unless you whant to buy the pro version.

I don`t think it is spyware.

It seems like a problem with the "E" key right enough
    Internet Explorer and email

Have you got another keyboard to try, or borrow one?
