Factory Reset HELP

Hi,

I have a Dell Precision M4300 running on Microsoft Windows XP. It's gone slow.. has random pop up's etc. So I tried the factory reset... (turn off > press f8 > wait for window to come up) The black screen comes up with options but not the 'Repair my Computer' Option!!? At this point I'm stuck, I've searched the internet for another way, but everyone is saying to do the same thing which it doesn't allow me to do.. Anyone help?

Many older computers do not have recovery partitions. They either did not have one or it has become corrupted or the hard drive was replaced. The only way to reinstall windows is to use the Dell reinstall cd with Windows xp. You can even borrow one as long it is a dell disk with the exact same version of XP.

Before doing that, try a disk check to make sure the hard drive is OK and then do a disk clean up to get rid of all old files and uninstall old unused programs. Be aware that MS support for XP ends in a few weeks. Time to upgrade to a new computer or a new operating system if your computer is compatible.
