thanks Mike( First, you need to put HiJackThis in it's own directory (like "C:\HJT"), ) not sure how to do this, ..this is what I cut off, sorry.....not very up to snuff on puters ya know-lolLogfile of HijackThis v1.97.7

sirdudness,I'd use windows explorer and locate the newly downloaded HiJackThis:- Right-click on it's icon and select "cut".
- Don't close the temporary downloads window, just yet.
- Next, open a new windows explorer window by doing "Start | My Computer | Local disk (C : )".
- Right-click anywhere in the window (except on an icon), then select "New | Folder".
- Enter "HJT"
- Double-click on the newly created "HJT" folder
- Right-click anywhere within the new folder's window and select "paste".
- Now, close the temporary downloads window.
From there on, you can specify "C:/HJT" when for the downloaded file's path.

That's no problem, except I need to see the top portion of the log that was cut off. I use it too see which version of HJT is being run (might need the newer one), which version of the operating system is being used (different os' sometimes have different fixes), and whether any hot-fixes are applied (without these, a user will more than likely get hit with something - sooner than later).
First, you need to put HiJackThis in it's own directory (like "C:\HJT"), and out of a temporary download directory. When you 'fix' entry(s) with HJT, it will create backup(s) for those entry(s). That way, if you make a mistake, or need to restore something back, you can. When the temporary folders get flushed, you'll not only have to reinstall HJT, you'll loose all the backups as well.
Be sure and post a new log, with the header.
Mike.
