i just recieved my dell vista upgrade from dell and i started theassistant DVDfirst so it can prepare my PC for the installation. I didnt this and as it was updating the bios it gave me this message that read
" FAILURE!!!FAILURE!!!FAILURE!!!" and they it continued after i pressed ok. so after that it went on to update my norton stuff. so it rebooted by utself, after that it wouldnt start up. The power button is steady orange colour and same with my monitor button. I called Tech Support and they made me take apart my CPU LITERALLY ...what should i do it wont start up it turns on gives this VERY LOUD fan noise and just stays like that.
First of all, make your thread title indicate the content of your message.
Second, learn to spell and capitalize. I don't really feel like taking the time to help you if you can't take the time to consider grammar.
If the problem occurred when you were updating your BIOS, then you probably have a corrupted BIOS installation. The BIOS is the code off of which your motherboard runs. There is no home solution to this and you will need to ship your notebook or computer (maybe just the motherboard) back to dell so they can flash it with the correct and complete BIOS.
They may actually send a tech to your house to replace the mobo if the bad flash occured using a Dell supplied BIOS update. You'll need to get on the phone with them to resolve the issue. There's nothing the community can do if you can't enter the boot cycle. Just out of curiosity, do your diagnostic lights indicate anything?
You can type in the service tag at Dell.com and get the model and specs that way. :smileyhappy:
Sorry...I support over 5000 Dell computers and I'm used to asking for the service tag when I need to know more about a computer that I am working on or might be helping out with.

No problem, I was just suggesting the poster not post that info for eveyone to see. Your post could've stated that or you could've sent a pm to that effect. Sorry if that came off wrong.
also when i called dell technical support the man that answered and made me take apart my pc , told me to take out memory cards and remove hardrive connections to the motherboard and stuff like that. Also i told him that i am not trained to do this and that I purchased extended warranty for somebody to come to my house( that is trained) to do this for me as i dont feel comfortable doing this.I payed for a service im not getting. He told me that we have to find the problem before we send somebody over.
so i dont know what to do. Aall the above posts were great thank you very much,
Thanks you to all
and i apologize for my poor grammar

On the top of this page there is a "My Account" link. Click that and log in. Once there you should see a link in the right column labeled "My Systems & Peripherals". You should be able to see your system specs there.
