Icons won' t always load

My Icons on Desktop do not load every time. I have two users on the computer and it does the same for both. I have to log off through the task manager and log on again and the Icons return. I am running Windows XP sp2 on a  Dell 2400.

    i have the same problem on my XP, diminsion 8300. no idea y.

    I read an article from PC magazine on corrupted icons and they said to run Microsofts Tweakui and the icon repair thing at the end of the listing. I tried it. I'll know if it works tommorow

    You can find the Microsoft Tweakui program here.  When I had an Icon problem on my desktop this worked for me.After you install this program open it up and go to Logon>Repair>Set the command "Rebuild Icons" and then click on Repair now.

    I tried it the other day and everything seems to load. I just notice they change order sometimes.

    jburns23, My icons do not change order. I have locked my task bar and also am arranging icons by name.  Click on a blank part of your desktop>arrange icons by>and see where you have the checkmarks.
