IE will not open any java script links, please help

Whenever I click on a java script link on a web site I hear a clicking noise like it is going to open up another window for the java item, but it never opens.  I do not get any error messages, it just doesn't do anything.  If I try it with Netscape, it works fine, so I am pretty sure the problem is with IE.  Also, I have another Dell computer with the same anti-virus, fire wall, internet provider etc., and it works fine with IE.  I have tried following instructions for un-installing and re-installing IE, I have tried downloading microsoft VM, and Sun Microsystems JRE, I have tried doing a repair install of Windows, but nothing has worked.  any help is greatly appreciated.

This may be way out in left field but here goes...  You said you heard a clicking noise but nothing happens, right?  You wouldn't be running a pop up blocker in IE would you?  If that link you clicked is supposed to open a new window, your popup blocker could be stopping it.  Just an idea...

    Thanks so much,

Your suggestion worked.  Actually I wasn't running a pop up blocker, but one of my service providers were.  When I uninstalled their software, the problem went away.  You have no idea how many things I tried, and how many suggestions I got from supposed professionals, and none of it worked.  I post a message here and you have me fixed within a few hours.  you are a genius.

    thanks again

What ISP was that , for reference.?
If you uninstalled their software how do you connect to the ISP now.?

    To gryjhnhpe,

I have two service providers right now AT&T and one called My Family Explorer.  I had just recently been trying out My Family Explorer, it is a filtered internet service that keeps your kids from getting all the bad junk etc. on the internet.  Apparently in order to filter the internet it takes over your browser, even if you log on with another ISP, which is why I couldn't get any Java Scripts even with AT&T.  I uninstalled My Fam, and was still able to connect with AT&T.  Then I downloaded just the base versoion of My Fam, without any tool bars or pop up blockers, and now both services work fine.  My fam is only $9.95 a month, and it is safer for my kids, and now that I have it working properly I will probably get rid of AT&T.  I will probably also get Netzero's free service, because as I have just learned, sometimes it pays to have another ISP.  Of course, My Fam is only safer if you use IE, apparently you can get around it by using Netscape.  Hope my kids don't figure that out.  Guess I'll just have to check periodically and make sure Netscape isn't installed.
