mail is delayed

I'm new to this so please bear with me,  Have new Dell comp. and am using Windows mail.  Many time my mail is delayed in being forwarded to me by several hours,  what do I do?

    Its not your fault. Blame it on the mail server of your ISP or mail provider for the mail backup.
