How can you copy something to Microsoft Word. For instance I copied a reply from this forum and then opened up Word and when I right clicked to paste, paste is greyed out. What am I missing?
Lydthekid, How did you ever find this solution? This has been driving me absolutely crazy. Your solution works. I never would have figured this one out. Thanks.
It's a case of been there, done that while also tearing my hair out until I saw someone else mention it--and for the life of me, I don't remember where I saw it. Glad it worked for you, too. :-)

I'm glad that works, but it's very odd. I can copy anything from the forum, then open Word 2003 (XPpro SP2) and paste into blank doc without problems. Sounds like there might be a problem with the clipboard.
Try this, copy something from the forum, and then open Word. Instead of right-clicking in Word to paste, press ctrl-v on the keyboard. If that works, there's something wrong with your context menu. Either way, you may want to run windows system file checker to see if it can fix the problem.
start>run
type in: sfc /scannow
(space between sfc and /)
click ok
insert XP CD if sfc requests it. Reboot when it's done.
Ron, My version of Word is 2002 and I am running XP Home. I ran SFC and nothing showed up as being missing. I tried your directions using the ctrl-v command and that did not work either. I also tired to copy and paste on an older Dell system using Wood 2002 and XP Home and was not able to copy and paste into word. It has always with my system this way-I have not been able to copy and then open wWord and paste. A real mystery. Dona

I think it's true that the difference in the older Word versions may be whether the Windows or Word clipboard is used. I'm a little hazy on the details (so what else is new?), but I think that has something to do with it. It's not so much that one is corrupted and needs repair, but which is used by default at what point in the process. I guess it's a case of whatever works . . .
