I am using a Dell 4600, Windows XP Professional computer that is just a few months old. After booting, sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10 times when I boot the computer), when I then left click on the, "My Computer," icon on my desktop or right click on the My Computer icon and choose Explore, the window opens but there is no plus sign to the left of My Computer in the left side of that window. On the right side of the window, I see a flashlight icon to show that the computer is searching for My Computer. This goes on indefinitely. However, even while this search for My Computer is being done by the computer, I can click on any program in the Start>Programs list and the program will run. If I then reboot the computer, more often than not, the My Computer icon in the My Computer window will then have a plus sign next to it, so it can be expanded
Why is it that the computer at times cannot find My Computer in the My Computer window and how do I correct the problem?
